Dark Blood 'Dark' Carpathian Christine Feehan 9780349403168 Books

If i could have given this book a half of a star I would have. Basically, don't waste your money. If Christine Feehan actually wrote this book I'd probably die of shock. IMO she hasn't written anything since Dark Predator, (she's probably on a beach somewhere laughing all the way to the bank); everything else is someone's else's figment of their imagination of how they think Christine would've written. Where do I begin with this one?

1. No character development. All other books written by Christine gave the reader and the characters a chance to develop -- in this one there wasn't any relationship between Zev and Bron just sex and violence. It read like one of those $2 gothic novels you can buy at the 2nd hand book store.

2. Things changed. Remember the plan to annihilate all Carpathians was originally thought of by the 5 Malinov's who joined with the Dark Mage to hatch their plot? Well, guess what? That changed over night! Enter some new totally ridiculous reason dreamed up out of nowhere.

3. What happened to family loyalty? Lara is in this book briefly, (Dark Curse), she owes her life to her great aunts, but she doesn't even TALK to them in this book! They don't even say "Hello" to each other! Not to mention that Razvan hasn't spoken to either of his aunts since their escape from the ice mountain! That doesn't make any sense! And I won't even talk about how none of his girls (who have supposedly forgiven him), said anything to HIM either, (except Skylar, which is another strange story). Also the biggest and baddest Dragonheart was there with his mate, (remember the one so desperate for family?), had never met his nieces or his nephew or great nieces in any of the previous books; but yet again they did not even say one word to each other. It's like the writer just threw these characters in for effect and not substance.

4. Violence and gore and More Violence Oh My! Lots of ridiculous gratuitous violence that made no sense in this book. There is one scene where Zev saves the children from an attack, (about 2 whole chapters talk about this one attack -- whoever wrote this story must be getting paid by the word); and the whole scene makes no sense. On top of that, after Zev stops the attack, no where throughout the book does he mention it to the other Carpathians or is it even brought up again! The Mages went after Carpathian children, the most precious things in their world, yet not one word spoken about it outside of those ridiculously violent scenes! Oh and another thing, Hell hounds? Really?

5. Enough already with the sex. I don't read porn, I DO read erotica, but I'm not into porn and I'm definitely not into pages and pages that describe one sex act ad nauseum.

6. Two main characters that should've been there weren't there. Manolito, (who came with his WHOLE FAMILY to the carpathian mountains -- who is watching the horde of vampires who are in South America I wonder?); was a natural choice to hunt the rogue werewolves/carpathian hybrids; not mentioned. Natalia, who is a great mage and the last time were saw her she was in the Carpathian mountains, not mentioned and ignored. These two characters should have naturally been part of the story, but strangely they were not.

7. The writer talked incessantly about Bronnie and her "twin's" years growing up with Xavier, but one salient fact was never brought up -- They weren't twins they were TRIPLETS, where's the story of their brother? (Hence the siring of the Twins Razvan and Natalia); when all these awful things were happening to them at the hands of Xavier and his brothers, where was their brother and why were they kept in ice but he wasn't and also why didn't Xavier, et al. do the same awful things to him that they did to the girls?

This book was a complete mess and it totally disrespected the long time fans of the series. Honestly, do they think we don't actually READ the books we buy and don't know each character and each synopsis that's gone before at all? This book was an insult to all of Christine's longtime fans. Don't waste your money -- wait until someone else takes their book to the second hand store and you can probably get it for fifty cents.

Dark Blood 'Dark' Carpathian Christine Feehan 9780349403168 Books Reviews

I'm so disappointed in this book! After waiting for the final installment in this trilogy, it turns out to be something of a let down. I give it 3 stars (equivalent to "it's ok but not by much") mainly because we get to catch up somewhat with several couples from the dark series--though I'm truly disappointed with how little thought Feehan gave to Dominic and his beautiful jaguar mate Solange...he thought he was the last of the Dragonseeker line until he finds out about Razvan and the Aunts; so when Bronnie and her sister are in trouble everyone's going to help but him??? A strong Dragonseeker male with an equally strong jaguar mate and he's not going to be in the thick of things especially when their mother was his beloved sister?! Really??? What was the purpose of even having him be in the Carpathian Mts. if he's going to be scarce in the middle of a major fight-- plus there is no mention of the information he is supposedly bringing the prince.

Zev and Bronnie really like Zev, what little we're able to ascertain about his character, integrity and sense of duty. I get the whole uber alpha thing but am definitely not buying into the idea that it also means he is "naturally" a man who only likes rough sex. If that's true, then why would he have a problem with Lyall's treatment of women...what's the difference? The same question applies to Bronnie...you've been mistreated and tortured your whole life by your father and uncles no less and now the reader is supposed to believe that you "love" being handled roughly by your man because you know he'd never hurt you yet you can't handle facing the 3 X's and dealing out a little payback to them? WTH??
And by the way sex is not the same as romance--and sex at inappropriate times is definitely not romantic--the only way to handle a crisis is to first screw your brains out a few times and then suddenly recall that oh, we have somewhere to be and real issues to take care of? What kind of character building is that?

Xavier times 3 give me a break. Enough said.

The repetition please stop, work at the story until you have something worth writing. You started out building a great world populated with interesting individuals and species...please go back to that. And get rid of the appendix--must it be included in every single book?

War can't rage on forever and there are lots of threads that need to be tied up...threads that would make for great stories, just sayin'.

I am a newcomer to this series but have read several books and agree with others that the beginning of the series is much better than where it is now. Truly wish she'd done better by Zev and Bronnie than what we got...the characters earned better and needed better...and for what I paid for the book, I needed better too.

Oh well, such a shame. If you must read this book, do it on kindle or wait for the inevitable paperback and save yourself a little money...this one is not a keeper nor is it one I plan to revisit; a second read won't make it any better.
I used to enjoy Christine Feehan's books, but they have become nothing but sex scenes and repetitive prose. She had great characters in the first several books of the Dark series, she spent time to develop them and let them become interesting. Really wish she would stop saying the same phrases hundreds of times, and take out 90% of the sex scenes. Taking 20 pages to detail sex ad nauseum has gotten old, and doing that 10 times in a book means I flip through over half the book without reading it. Ok, so it's supernatural romance, but CF used to write more interesting stuff than this.
I was disappointed with Dimitri's book having looked forward to it so much. I didnt think it could get worse but this is in a league of its own... I am about half way through and really struggling. I am stubborn enough to finish it but its killing me with its repetitive monotony. Fight-spell-sex-repeat. And the triplets plot SERIOUSLY? You can see which villain will be in the next one.... it is such a shame as at the end of Dominic's book there was great scope for more plots with the discovery of a secret list of possible lifemates being watched by the secret society but this was all forgotten. The only good part of what I have read was the fight with Travis and the hellhounds. Its almost like she gets paid per word. Some of the past books were wonderful but I dont think I will be wading through any more of these without checking the reviews first.... PLEASE don't waste your money. I should have been paid to read this. The last good book in this series was Dark Storm (although it fell over a bit at the end). Where was Dax in this book? He would have been very useful in the fights!
