Beautiful Nightmares Preston Walker Books
This is just about one of the best novels I have read in the Alpha&Omega/shifter/mpreg/mm romance genre ever! The first chapter was so well written that just like Jeremy, the future Omega in the book, I couldn't tell if it was a dream or what I was reading was really happening to him...it was that good. The setting of the book the small town of Goldenrod, New Mexico, just off of I-10 was so well described by the author, Preston Walker (especially when he described Xander's childhood home) that I truly felt I was there. But the main reason this book worked when some many others I have read in this particular genre failed for me was the nature of Xander (the Alpha) and Jeremy's relationship...so real on so many levels. From the first time Xander saw Jeremy (love at first sight) to the last part of the book when they were going through the many trials and tribulations of trying to adjust to their new found domestic life together (so realistic!), even Jeremy dealing with his new mother-in-law, I just couldn't get enough of Xander and Jeremy...read this book trust me YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!Product details

Beautiful Nightmares Preston Walker Books Reviews
This is the first book I've read by Preston Walker. I'm not saying it was a terrible book...I just didn't like it. The beginning looked really promising...for the first couple of pages. Jeremy has got to be the most unlucky person ever. Then it broke down and got confusing. And Xander's rage inducing remark to Jeremy's statement about being bi-sexual... "You keep telling yourself that" or something to that effect. Like being bi-sexual isn't a thing, that you can only be one or the other. That...REALLY ticked me off. Then, Preston seeming to solidify that Jeremy wasn't bi-sexual, but gay all the time! Just in denial! You know what? Step on a Lego, Preston Walker.
SPOILERS
Xander is a big jerk. Yes, he had been invited to bite Jeremy, but knowing that Jeremy was having trouble with the whole process of understanding the what and why things were happening to him...Xander was just insensitive and a complete jerk. His first reaction seems to be violence, backhanding Jeremy savagely to 'wake' him up after they've already copulated. But maybe only when it comes to Xander, as he was perfectly fine with his murderous brother being allowed to live. Maybe it's me being insensitive...but fool me twice and set me up to be used by the bad guy and nearly get my second in command and mother murdered by me in a drug induced rage AND come back to attack me when I get the antidote...? Where is this fount of forgiveness and understanding to a man who was traumatized by said brother and turned into something he doesn't understand?
And that MOTHER. Do NOT get me started on her.
THE GIRLFRIEND.
The author having to take EVERYTHING from Jeremy to finally get Jeremy in a place where he has NO CHOICE but to rely on Xander is weak. Kill the mother, kick him outta college (how did the college find out so quickly and why was there no investigation? Seems to be opening this college up to some lawsuits), take away his house (that shouldn't have even been a thing since it was in his name), and his girlfriend (making her into being a slut, really? Give me a break). Was there really no way that Jeremy would go with Xander?
Then there's Doc. Who is supposed to be a doctor, but is completely unsympathetic and bed side manner is bordering on...sociopath. This is extremely odd considering the reveal later on in the book that the Doc had been aware of.
Maybe this was part of Xander's character arch to learn to accept help from the rest of his pack, but Doc didn't even try to explain his plan to Xander. Just offered another set of teeth, got turned down, Doc shrugged, then just did his plan anyway. This is after Xander already knew about that random old guy's son being involved in getting revenge.
Xander's brother...just...
END SPOILERS
The sex scene was good. But as a whole, the story just had a lot of tone issues. There were parts that worked for me, but on a whole? I kept wondering when the book would end, cause it seems like I went through two or three climaxes before finally ending. The action scenes were okay, but somewhat confusing. I could barely get how the pack was even structured and what domestics were (I could have missed that in some exposition paragraph), and any real personality outside of...well. No one really had a great personality set up beyond Xander, Doc and Jeremy. And I didn't like those, so there ya go. The romance rushed and uninspiring. The 'twists' were major leaps of logic and didn't jive with how things played out earlier in the story. I wouldn't recommend it, but I guess I could see why so many people liked it. I just...didn't.
I liked it and read it in one night. I couldn't put it down. Much better than the description of the book made it sound. It took me a while to read it because I wasn't sure if it would be worth it...it is!
Great book. I loved the MC's. I loved the bits of humor that were mixed in with all the drama going on. Xander and Jeremy were so good together. I was able to feel the immediate connection between them and enjoyed their journey. I received an ARC and voluntarily read it for an honest review.
Preston Walker did it again with this unique story. It has all of the best features of a paranormal book; danger, intrigue, werewolves in both their full shift and half shifted forms. And don't forget the steamy love scenes! Jeremy and Xander come together to make a perfect Alpha/Omega bond. I plan to add this to my list of favorite books.
I'm totally hooked on Preston Walker and on werewolf tales, though I suspect I might only enjoy the werewolf tales that Preston Walker writes. What an enthralling, dramatic, sensational, erotic, dark and dangerous adventure, and so much of it seen through the eyes of this dorky cute guy who is so much stronger and more powerful and beautiful than he realises. It's a great story of how Jeremy finds his beautiful nightmare comes true in the end. It's a story that is hard to put down. Enjoy!
